$ 149.99
The intricate tapestries are woven by the women from a small village called Cucanja, in the Alta Verapaz region of Guatemala. These talented weavers use the Back Strap Loom technique that has been passed down through generations from mother to daughter. They have taken their ancestral knowledge of back-loom weaving to create beautiful pieces with modern flair. Sales generate income and independence for their families and their village. These tapestries not only come from a rich history, but provide a community for the women weavers to raise children and support the Fair Trade Principles to ethically break the cycles of generational poverty. Approximately 16 inch x 17inches. Materials: 100% cotton dyed with AZO-free dyes and pine wood. The pieces of pine wood used are gathered and harvested by the artisan weavers. The pine pieces are integral to the back-loom weaving process.
